What is the First Time Facilitator bootcamp?

For the first time, I’m packaging up all my facilitation goodness I’ve acquired over 100 + podcast episodes; international workshop delivery across 9 countries + through thousands of hours of googling activities (and reading books), to bring you the First Time Facilitator bootcamp.

The bootcamp will feature a series of one hour live masterclasses (with Q&A), targeting the headaches you have in your facilitation work.

We’ll have a private community group running mini challenges in between masterclasses, so you implement what you learn.

Access the facilitation resources you need
In the bootcamp, I'm giving you access to the checklists and tools I use when I design workshops.

Let's not reinvent the wheel. I've delivered hundreds of workshops and I have a process for designing effective and engaging workshop experiences.

All of these tools are created to allow you to copy/download, and tailor for your next workshop.

All about active participation
This is not a set and forget program... This is a bootcamp!
I really want you to get a ton of value from this program. Hey, I even might challenge you to get out of your comfort zone by throwing down some mini-challenges during the experience.

Designed with you in mind
Once you've signed up, you're invited to complete a quick questionnaire. I want to know;
- When/where you get stuck when it comes to designing and delivering workshops
- The best time to run the bootcamp and your preferred frequency (weekly/fortnighly/monthly?)

Community support
Facilitation and corporate training can be lonely, sometimes isolating. You're facilitating a group but you're not part of the group.

Join an exclusive community of fellow facilitation bootcampers.  In the community, you can share your wins, challenges, ask for ideas and share any fabulous facilitation resources .

This bootcamp was created for you if...

  •
  • You're brilliant at what you do. You're regularly asked by your company to teach what you know to others. You accept the challenge but you spend so much time trying to get the workshop experience 'right'.  You don't even know if you can call yourself  a ‘facilitator' or a corporate trainer.
  • You've delivered workshops for a while but you're self-taught. You don't really know a lot about adult learning principles or consider brain science when you design workshops.
  • You're a business owner who wants to use workshops to gain more business and share your expertise with others.
  • You may also be a thought leader or speaker. You have no problem delivering a remarkable presentation but you’re unsure when it comes to managing group dynamics and creating interactive workshop experiences.
  • You care about your workshop and want to do things a little differently. You're willing to challenge your existing mindset to make what you do more effective.
Frequently Asked Questions

Program format
The online program will be a series of 5 x one hour master-classes, recorded live. You can choose to attend these masterclasses online in real-time, or you will have life-time access to the recordings.  Depending on the response from bootcampers, the bootcamp will be delivered either weekly/fortnightly/monthly, with mini challenges thrown in.  You'll also receive
access to the templates and checklists to help simplify your workshop design and delivery.  Prior to the program, I’ll be asking you to rate/rank your specific pain points / lessons you really want to learn.

Why have I decided to craft the boot camp this way?
When I’ve signed up for online programs, I’ve discovered that this co-creation process really targets my frustrations + barriers, which makes the training more applicable. There’s no point wasting your time with information and knowledge that you can’t apply immediately.

Will there be sample activities and icebreakers in the program?
Yes! I’ve tested hundreds of activities and icebreakers during my time as a facilitator. Some have worked beautifully across all types of group sizes and demographics, others not so much (cringe). I’ll share the most effective activities and most importantly; in what context you should use them in. I’ll include relatively safe activities but my style is to push the barriers a little, so I’ll also share some more ‘out there’ activities that you can use, once you’ve created psychological safety in your workshops.  I’ll also share a condensed list of the useful resources and websites that I lean on when I develop my workshop material.

"My business runs regular workshops and we are constantly looking for ways to ensure we are as engaging as possible for our attendees. We weren’t sure that we had enough contrast and mix of activities for the day, so we engaged Leanne to go through our outline and activities. Leanne sat with us and talked through our workshop, helping us with ideas, and giving some feedback on the structure of the day.

I highly recommend Leanne as a facilitation coach. She is easy to chat to and her genuine encouragement for some of our more odd activities was as valuable as her ideas for additions we could make. The boost in confidence was appreciated, and the feedback we received from attendees after we ran our workshop was extremely positive.

Thank you so much Leanne!"

Leanne Hughes

Hi! I’m Leanne and I'm here to help you show up.

"We had a team of clever engineers and specialists who were struggling to develop technical training courses, resorting to ‘death by PowerPoint’ formats when they did.  We had so many results from engaging Leanne as the facilitator for our Train the Trainer workshop, and too many to list which include:
- Large number of employees signed up
- Unprecedented attendance levels and engaged trainees
- Effort made on ‘homework’ between workshops
- Increased energy and confidence noted during the second session
- Several trainees gushing about the experience, spreading the learning with their colleagues
- Many SMEs continue to be engaged and are making much improved progress using the tips and tricks they’d learned

The three specific features we enjoyed about Leanne’s work as a facilitator were:
1. The first session included participants in Hong Kong, Sydney and Melbourne, I’ve never seen such engagement from remotely located employees during a 4-5 hour session.
2. The course content was well structured, conveyed simply and compellingly and immediately useful
3. Leanne’s energy and ability to retain the focus, participation and excitement levels of all attendees
